Evaluation Consultancy

I have designed and conducted following evaluations:

  • 2010: Mid Term Rivew of the project “Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction’ of Caritas Keskuepan Sibolga, Indonesia.
  • 2010, Final Evaluation of OXFAM-BD- DIPCHO- VI DRR project
  • In the year 2010 , International Lead Consultant for the Mid Term Evaluation of the Capacity Building for Community Empowerment towards Disaster Risk Reduction and Sustainable Development of Center for Disaster Risk Management and Community Development Studies of the Nommensen University , Indonesia.
  • In the year 2009, International Lead Consultant for facilitating Project-end Evaluation of the Child Focused Disaster and Emergency Response Management project of Save the Children UK in Afghanistan.
  • In the year 2009 : International lead consultant for Facilitating Participatory Reflection and Evaluation of Capacity Development Accompaniment Projects TowardsCommunity Managed Disaster Risk Reduction (CMDRR) forCRS-Indonesia and KARINA-Indonesia
  • In the year 2006, Lead / International Evaluation Consultant for Evaluation of the Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) project of Water Aid and Village Education Resource Centre, Bangladesh.[1]
  • In the year 2005, Lead Evaluator of Sustainable Food Security Projects of USAID-supported World Vision program in Bangladesh.

Besides designing and conducting evaluation, I have conducted following consultancy activities related to capacity development in Monitoring and Evaluation.

  • In the year 2009, Development of Gender Disaggregated Monitoring, Evaluation and MIS of DRR project of Caritas-Sibolga, Indonesia.
  • In the year 2007, Development of Monitoring and Evaluation framework and guide for Global Partnership for Promoting Local innovations for Sustainable Development (www.prolinnova.net).
  • In the year 2006, Designed tested and developed manual on participatory impact assessment entitled “Community Identified Significant Change” for IIRR, Philippines.
  • In the year 2004, Designed, coordinated and conducted international customized training course on Participatory Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning for the M&E officers and consultant of LWR in Asia, Africa & Latin America.

Development of innovative approach and project plan for for climate change Adaption in West Bengal , SuburbansClient: German Development Cooperation (GTZ)-India and Department of Environment of the West Bengal of India

My consultancy task was to review literature, conduct a community and other stakeholders consultation, determine needs and and program strategies. Conceptualize an innovative project framework and develop/write a 3-year pilot project on climate change adaption of both community and natural in Sundarbans of west Bengal. I created an innovative framework entitled" promotion of local innovation and action (PLIA) towards climate change adaptation; a three years ( January 2011- December 2013) project plan.

Application of Appreciative Inquiry Towards Good Local Governance
Client: Caritas Sibolga, Indonesia
Period: 2009

Hands on orientation-training to the staff members on Application of Appreciative Inquiry and Multi-Stakeholder Participation process towards Good Local Governance in Nias Regency of Indonesia.

Facilitating Caritas Family Trainers' forum in Indonesia on Developing Training/facilitating Resource on Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction
Client: Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Indonesia, and -KWI , Indonesia

Huge capacity development needs of 13 Caritas organizations in Indonesia persuaded development of networking organizations called KAINA-KWI , under the governance of Indonesian Bishop Conference. An component the capacity development came forward is to develop a training network and build their training capacity as well as develop training resource. Catholic Relief Services ( CRS) being the lead and other International Caritas organizations put together a consultancy project to form DRR trainers' forum in participation with trainers and practitioners of DRR within international and local Caritas Organizations. as an international consultant was tasked to facilitate -member trainers to develop a complete training /facilitating curriculum on the implementation of community managed disaster risk reduction program. Through application participatory write-shop approach I enabled the trainer forum to develop a comprehensive training curriculum consist 7 manuals though packaging project generated practical experiences.

Capacity Development of local Partner NGOs towards Community management Promotion in DRR and Livelihood programmes
Client: Trocaire, Timor Leste and Caritas Switzerland Indonesia program

Designed and conducted several training courses for the local partner organizations of Caritas Switzerland and Trocaire in Indonesia and Tomor Leste



Action Learning Based Accompaniment in Developing Programs on Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction

Client: Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Indonesia, Italian Caritas, Caritas Keskupan Sibolag and Cordia-Medan, Karina-KWI , Indonesia
Period: July 2007-December 2008

Funded by Catholic Relief Services -Indonesia and Italian Caritas, 18 months consultancy projects of developing capacity of Caritas Keskupan Sibolga and Cordia-Medan in developing programs on Community Managed Disaster Risk Reduction (CMDRR) . Action learning centered training-action-reflection approach was designed and applied .


Action Learning Based Capacity Development in Developing Programs on Community Managed Livelihood Promotion towards Disaster Risk Reduction
Client: Caritas Keskupan Sibolag , Indonesia

Funded by Caritas Austria, an action leaning approach oriented consultancy to design, pilot and develop innovative framework and program which simultaneously encompassed capacity development of project staff .


Action Learning Based Capacity Development Towards Community Management Promotion in Water Sanitation Partnership Project
Client: Partnership of SDC, CARE-Bangladesh, IDE, and DASCOH
Period: 1998-2001

Funded by Swiss Agency for Development Cooperator , I was responsible to provide 190 days of technical support and consultancy in designing, testing and packaging practice generated learning into training/ facilitation resource. Innovative approach was developed and series of training resources were prepared and published.
